Unless I missed it in the list, it doesn't appear to be recognized by your desktop? Try another port making sure to exclude any extension cables.

Hardware related problems are hard to troubleshoot online. You will have to provide a lot of information, and much of it wouldn't come close to being onsite and having a good look... 
Have you tried a live DVD to test with? Maybe then that would negate the issue being hardware related, which is what you really want, to get these speakers working...
