The question is off.
Ultimate Edition 3.4 and 3.5 have the same compiz effects available.
KDE can use Compiz but it will crash. KDE will crash...anyways...it just will.
KDE uses kwin.
To change the Window Manager click on the compiz cube in the right hand corner
To change kwin effects, go to
systemsettings-->desktop effects-->all effects
These are the settings, they are vast and many...
Also...in a stock Ultimate Edition 3.5 KDE running KDE 4.8.5, many may not work. Even if they do work, changing a single setting the wrong way can freeze and disable your desktop. It is kind of like the warning you see in CCSM but you don't get a warning and it is far more critical here.
To make things more dire, if the settings do work, you may not find out until you reboot. So you could accidentally disable your desktop, tring to do something you may have already done..you just didn't reboot.
Compiz, does work...in LXDE,XFCE, and Gnome Classic without hardly any issues, except you may have to get rid of Unity.
