All about knowing HOW to set audio properties in Linux.

First thing to do is make sure shes fully setup right in sound preferences.

This is when you set the sound devices wanted like headphones etc.

I do show HDMI drivers have NOT been installed yet.

More advanced mixers can be found in Ubuntu software center for a better mix of sound.

HDMI has never worked for me in linux and nvidia.

Not even 11.04.

Driver issue.

When I get time, I will look into it more. On a Nvidia based 9800 GT system as we speak, its my dedicated linux test system.
