Having real problem with Adobe Flash...[SOLVED]

Having real problem with Adobe Flash...[SOLVED]

Postby dougal » Sun Apr 10, 2011 4:04 pm

I haven't had this for a long time and not sure what has changed but, it all started last week sometime. It could be the latest Adobe Flash Plug-in or something else. Just don't know.

Please forgive me if this has already been highlighted but, I did do a search for the problem and didn't find a thread or post.

I am running a fresh install of 2.9 32-bit as of yesterday.
Everything appears to be working except for Flash. I can run YouTube videos but, when I try the likes of the BBC iPlayer (A British TV program rerun thingy...) I keep getting asked to install Flash.

I have downloaded and installed both the .deb and .APT one at a time without luck. Synaptic says it is installed and I can remove completely and apparently reinstall without problem. I made sure I downloaded the correct file from Adobe's site but, I cannot get Firefox or Chromium to recognize that Flash is installed.

Please help as I look at quite a few programmes 'Off Air'.

Thanks - to GURU for this. All done as advized including deleting the folders for the browser configs. Aaah... it's a good feeling.

Only noticed this in OZ unity my self.

Remove all installed instances of flash, then use the top flash install option in ubuntu software center.

Worked for me, but I suspect your problem MIGHT be more browser related.

you might need to delete your browsers config folder in home folder and start over.

I don't believe it is a Firefox problem I believe what Guru has suggested and to many Flash packages trying to work at same time. Delete/uninstall all Flash packages in Synaptic and only install Adobe Flash package in synaptic as Guru suggests. All should work for you too.
Good luck.
