Install, load safe graphics mode via recovery mode using grub.

Activate Ati proprietary drivers via additional drivers

Then install at cat 11.2 before restarting

If ya need any help, just ask.

I looked, but I don't see a 'safe-graphics mode' anywhere under the 'F' key options-

On the iPad, or I could find it for ya.

Just skip live and install direct.

If single boot, hold shift as it posts bios to get grub to show.

This will show recovery mode, easy to get safe graphics mode from there.

I see...I'm dual-booting with Windows, using Easy BCD for boot-menu....this may not be as easy as I hoped-

then just install it and have ATI cat prepped and ready to install on the spot once installed.

I don't get why your having this problem, other then older 4870 over my 5870,s.

My 5870,s worked great with Ultimate Edition 2.9.

Ether way man, put your head to it and you will get her done.

Clearly a driver issue, so just resolve that issue.

use it to install , install the drivers then swap out lol.

Done this one before.

Dose not always work, some times it does.

Still shocks me the 4870 HD would not be native supported when my 5870's are.

Requires more research as to why.

Gúrú Linux ríomhaire is right what I seen in the video is defiantly a video card related issue. Safemode vga is most likely the answer, some other options are to try as follows by pressing F6:
option2.png
Other options... Ignore the Ultimate Edition 3.0 that has been built, just an alpha.

noacpi
acpi=off

I see Ubuntu ripped the safemode vga option out I may have to put it back in the menu ;) I guess they feel with the opensource movement on graphics drivers solves all. I can't wait to see how they intend to handle wayland.
