Open Testing...

03/03/2011: Let's try this again... Mirror Status: 0 mirrors. So it may take a few to populate all 32 mirrors.
Release Name: Ultimate Edition 2.9
Architecture: 64 Bit
Environments: KDE, Gnome, XFCE, LXDE, Openbox
MD5SUM: 5b0ba38fb1f7c33e810b5d090d68b5e6
Size: 2.9 GB (2,935,584,768 bytes)

Once mirrored: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ultimat ... o/download

02/25/2011:A delay on Ultimate Edition 2.9, thanks Greg.

I have decided against posting things such as this on main. I feel it is best to keep things in house and not public information. The people here obviously care enough to register.

While the public can still obtain Ultimate Edition 2.9 x64 if they know, I pushed Ultimate Edition 2.9 to sourceforge today. No official post has been written for it. What I am going to provide you Ultimate Edition 2.9 x64, the admin / mods / beta testers have had access to for weeks This does not mean it is final. I am now going to give you a chance to put your 2 cents in ;)

By the same token I am also going to provide you a new ultamatix, newer then is in even Ultimate Edition 2.9 as of current.

Ultamatix changelog as of current, subject to change.

How brave are you? I should point out most will have many theme upgrades using method #1. I will provide 2 methods

#1 - repository method:

1. Download and install this deb.

2. Open a terminal and enter the following if Ultamatix is installed:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

If Ultamatix is not installed do as above and follow through with the following:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install ultamatix

Method #2 direct download (possible dependency problems):
Download and install based on architecture:
32 bit or 64 bit.

02/25/2011: Please be patient the below will not work currently I am addressing the issue.
I do not have 32 bit of Ultimate Edition 2.9 done yet, please feel free to try the x64 bit edition if your hardware supports it. I have been running it for weeks w/o issue.

Please feel free to report both positive and negative, I just learned my admin did not have access to Ultimate Edition 2.9, but for 2 days or so. We are still working in the right direction. It is not "official", we do not have Ultimate Edition 2.9 yet. I am looking for issues.

Yeah Jonny, I get that bad kernel image error too. I'm sure Thee will straighten it out. Anything in particular we should keep our eyes open for. I'm sure we would all like to help.

Yep, actually if you are running Ultimate Edition 2.9 will automatically detect a new version of Ultamatix is available for download. Ultimate Edition 2.9 has the themelinux repo built in along with the GPG key.

Does not work with Natty (started, but has python issues). Ultamatix 1.9.2 works with the following:
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 30 2011-02-18 09:31 Gloria
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 29 2011-02-18 09:31 gutsy
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 29 2011-02-18 09:31 hardy
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 32 2011-02-18 09:31 intrepid
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 30 2011-02-18 09:31 jaunty
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 52 2011-02-18 09:31 julia
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 30 2011-02-18 09:31 karmic
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 29 2011-02-18 09:31 lenny
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 29 2011-02-18 09:33 lucid
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 32 2011-02-18 15:09 maverick
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 29 2011-02-23 13:29 natty
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 27 2011-02-18 09:31 sid

Ultimate Edition 2.8 falls in the maverick category. Ultamatix as far as I know works with all Ultimate Edition's I can not confirm this, I would have to have a 2 TB drive and nothing on it but Ultimate Edition O/S's and have gutsy based Ultimate Edition 1.7 installed on it to test & confirm for example ;)

Thanks buddy completely slipped my mind. Yes I have been running it for 2 weeks ;)
Calculated by md5sum on the server:
[dserver@gator906 ~/public_html/Testing]$ md5sum ultimate-edition-2.9-x64.iso
ffd0ca1764586fdfc7efeaac47743943 ultimate-edition-2.9-x64.iso
[dserver@gator906 ~/public_html/Testing]$

Calculated by Sourceforge (a new feature) click the little circled letter I:
ffd0ca1764586fdfc7efeaac47743943
Calculated on my hard disk:
theemahn@SledgeHammer:/media/TeraByte/Ultimate Edition$ md5sum ultimate-edition-2.9-x64.iso
ffd0ca1764586fdfc7efeaac47743943 ultimate-edition-2.9-x64.iso
theemahn@SledgeHammer:/media/TeraByte/Ultimate Edition$

Let me know if you still have issues. Are you burning your disk at the slowest speed #1 reason for failure. I installed it from a USB stick, I do not know if this makes a difference. Going to burn it and try again.

I am sorry ladies & gentlemen, the one I had in the Ultimate Edition folder is not the same as the one I should have uploaded now tested (I have had alot on my mind - re-uploading), I apologize to the 2,400 ppl that have downloaded it. This has happened to me once before you think I would have learned.

Sorry wrong ISO Uploaded.

Deleted from the server and sourceforge re-uploading, once again I am sorry. Wow, I almost screwed up again:

This is the release I made after my admin brought some grammatical issues to my attention. Upload canceled this is the known good. I need to make some sort of build revision tool.

Note the build date. I am super glad I did not make a homepage post about it. I will give our admin at least 2 days before I re-post open testing. I am sorry for the delay. Good things come to those that wait.

I probably have 10 copies of Ultimate Edition 2.9 as I was building it, I hope you can see how easy it is to lose track. I may write a build revision tool. To make my life easier. Sorry once again. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Greg.

Probably wouldn't take me but 5 minutes:
uebuild -release UE29 -destination /media/Terabyte/

timestamp create a folder on /media/Terabyte by date and mv the iso
example via date command:
/media/Terabyte/UE29/02-25-11-1423/ultimate-edition-2.9-x86.iso

I have started writing a O/S builder GUI based btw. I have way too much programming going on ;)

Sorry I did not catch your post of the 4X burn speed, before I began to run my chops ;)
