i tried to install again using ndigtk but it says modprobe fatal error no modprobe ndiswrapper

also i googled this problem and when i try to reinstall ndiswrapper-dkms it fails because of something to do with the new kernel..

http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/natty/ndiswrapper-dkms
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/amd64/ndiswrapper-dkms
http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/packages/show/286695

FYI what you just said tells me that the package is to old for the kernel to build headers via DKMS.

No big deal, we know natty has the updated packages we can use from natty PPA,s

Ndiswrapper's kernel stuff still doesn't work, even with natty ppa's. I guess i should try to get it working through the kernel? but i can't install the given driver. i tried making straight from it and i've tried instructions from this site http://samiux.blogspot.com/2010/05/howt ... ongle.html

also, under this new kernel i don't think the module for the driver is loading anymore, no realtek driver when i run lsmod in terminal. with old kernel driver would load but network manager wouldn't allow me to enable option to have a wireless.

in the lib/firmware rtl8192su firmware is there, which i think is what my rlt8188s chipset is supposed to use

Not a problem, find the package you need and download natty package to work with the new kernel.

Just find the deb version of the package from natty ppa,s

If it showed up before but would not activate, chances are a newer package might.

Thing is the instructions to those are kernel specific, im trying to type in my kernel instead of that but its getting errors, i'llkeep playing around and see what happens

also, wierd thing is lsusb under this new updated kernel shows that this is rtl8191S, i don't know why it's changing all of the sudden?

i am running 64bit, so my card might work in a 32 bit os?

maybe ill reformat soon then, especially with gnome 3 coming out - seems soo much better than current gnome.
