Your GPU is listed in 11.4 , also 11.2 so replace that control file first.

How do I replace the control file I don't understand. Do you mean to re-install ??? dathem

check synaptic and make sure your header sets are installed matching your kernel package. There are 2 header packs.

make sure you have read write and execution permissions for the AMD cat 11.2 installer.

double click and select run.

enter sudo password, allow to fully install and finish.

ok go to computer/file system/etc/ati delete the control file and replace with this one.

extract the file first , right click and extract here option.

I now have 2 options on the Cat installer;

install driver 8.821 on X.Org 6.9 or later 64 bit

or


Generate Distribution Specific Driver Package

sudo aticonfig --initial

once drivers are installed and control file replaced before you restart.

tells ya to do this at the end of the install, but most miss it.

FGLRX wont start if it isn't done, if you forget to.

Start all over.

you want the auto install options, this is the first option.
