10/13/2010: Cowboy Blue has won the poll, don't like the blue? Let's not lose all hope, 107 themes will be included in Ultimate Edition 2.8, Cowboy Blue will be the default, the users have spoken.
NOTE: you are seeing less then half of the list at 1920 X 1200. Ultimate Edition 2.8 is w/o a doubt eyecandy central, is that google chrome I see? We have many treats in store for you long time users of Ultimate Edition. On to the original post...
I am going to release the Ultimate Edition 2.8 theme in a day or 2 and allow options for various themes. Initially no options, but the Blue theme, however I intend to make a totally separate theme, Black err dark theme. One of our admins (Maddog) seem to think the Blue theme will cause our users to steer clear of Ultimate Edition. After all an extra theme would surely be appreciated. You can change your vote I am sure additional options will be offered as we progress. Which ever wins will be default in Ultimate Edition 2.8.
The initial Theme I will release is of the blue theme, however includes 11 wallpapers (at least visually). I should not have to do so, but I am going to set a poll here where you the end user can help construct your O/S. I am not happy that I have to create a dark theme, extra work I do not need. I have not released themes on Gnomelook, because they are quick to say your theme sucks as I am still working on them. I am sure they do not understand when I say "Proposed"... We do have serious haters there.
What you are voting for is the "Default" Theme, you will get all themes 103 currently. Welcome to eyecandy central
O.k. That said as it sits currently, I am going to call this theme "Cowboy Blue" once I start the poll:
Obviously I / Cowboy / JohnnyG or Amir have not written currently the dark theme. I will concentrate my effort on the theme & Firefox's CSS (currently not implemented), let them fellas have at the wallpaper. You gentlemen are also encouraged to drop your artwork.
O.k before we get on to the goodies, please do not take firefox's non viewable stuff into consideration, I will write css to correct those things.
Alpha 1 the "proposed theme #1"(Cowboy blue):
Many have asked for a dark theme, that said... Does not mean I can not use JohnnyG's Wallpaper, you guys decide. Same wallpaper as can be viewed below as my KVirc background.
Alpha 2 the "proposed theme #2":
Alpha 2 I just dropped to sourceforge (currently unannounced minus here) has a new theme (actually 103 total), I have not defaulted it yet.

I won't comment on "what is new" yet.
The theme I am currently working on, based on Onux theme:
Don't want to download the alpha just to see a theme no problem.

Many admin have pitched in "Cowboy Blue".
Onux originally by bvc, modded and Debianized by me. The icon set is from our Lava theme, Magiconed to make it match the themes colors.
I apologise I can not be on the forum as much as I would like to. Everyday around here is a new month. I hope you can understand what I meant by that. Shortly, I may open your eyes. Waiting on lawyers to deem 1 side or the other. Don't you feel I should post it openly, I will do so before I make any decision & sign a John Hancock. Please give me time. It will effect every Ultimate Edition user. I told you I will not sell out on you, do not lose sleep.
07/23/10: I have been working on the dark theme and for lack of a better word perfect. I have written the usercontent.css for Firefox which will be located in /etc/skel/.mozilla/ folder on next build, so you can enjoy what I am seeing. I have yet to see a button I can not see or light grey on white for example. I have also skinned the browser with Oskar 1.9, now carries through live as well the usercontent.css. This makes the gtk dark theme carry through even in Firefox dark textboxes check boxes etc. The first O/S I have seen to accomplish such a feat. You will be able to enjoy the same Alpha III. Overall alot of work on my end. Qt apps, KDE3 and KDE4 apps the same.
I bet a majority of you come back here re-vote and scrap the blue gtk theme. Finally a Ultimate Edition that has full uniformity. You will understand when you see Alpha III.
I guess what I am trying to say in layman terms, with every dark theme I have ever used / made / tried there are elements you can not see. I have yet to see this happen here. A heavy accomplishment. I have been using Nix greater then 10 years, in all those years never. Do not think I have lived in Ultimate Edition all those years we have only been around what 4 years in December. Now I feel old, I wrote my first program 27 years ago on a Commodore Vic-20.
Am I a programmer or graphical GTK artist? You decide... I have much work in Ultamatix, why do I waste my time here? Since I have opened IRC up for business I have had users come in that live by Ultamatix, typically new users. How do you think my time is best spent? Bring users to Nix not necessarily Ultimate Edition, but nix. I have a heavy position that I did not ask for. Ridiculed in the past for perhaps Reality sets in... I thought Canonical had it in for me, it will be M$ in the end. Canonical will thank me. Jane is now their CEO. Yes, I have chit chatted with her in the past. I have never spoke with Mark.
