Help & support for Ultimate Edition 2.6

KDE question

Postby nynoah » Mon May 03, 2010 4:55 pm

Is 2.6 supposed to have KDE inside it? I saw it in the boot options and tried to go to it but it just went to a screen with just the wallpaper. No desktop. Now, I also had turned on the beta backports for KDE using Ubuntu tweak. I then went and updated and still no desktop. I then went into synaptic and searched for Kubuntu and noticed it was not installed. I installed it and I now have KDE. I am not really posting this as an issue. More as either a heads up to others. Or as a question of whether Kubuntu was supposed to be installed or not?

Thanks

I was surprised to see it and had the same experience that you did. Ultimate Edition has traditional been gnome only on the even number releases.

Thats cool, no worries. I know usually it is supposed to be for the odd number releases. But given that it was there, it might be confusing to some new users. So far, other than the cursor and some issues with changing the borders (I have to use Emerald) I am quite happy with 2.6.

Thanks Ultimate Edition team. You saved me HOURS of having to custom configure normal Ubuntu into something usable to me.
