I couldnt use Internet Download Manager in ubuntu.
So i thought of installing firefox and IDM in wine.

I can download live videos using IDM faster than others.

Also i couldnt run any other softwares using wine, please provide me a solution. Initially i configured some settings in wine and then i set default settings. But even then its not working. :( :( :(

I installed Ultimate Edition 2.6 in my friends laptop and its working fine for him. In my system before using wine i opened "Wine Doors" from Applications menu and it did some process and installation for 5mins and after that when i tried executing an exe its not working.

Thanks for your help.

Before uninstalling wine i just tried deleting .wine folder and that worked for me.
But the problem is, IDM is not working in wine properly so i gave up on that.

I installed RDM alpha and it doesnt integrate with firefox. So currently i'm using DownThemAll.

Since the upgrade to 2.6 with the newest Wine i've had trouble running Steam. In 2.5 I could run steam from my windows partition and launch games. Now when I try to use steam the program lauches and it looks great since they've updated steam and it runs a little better but messenger windows disapear when i move them and I cannot launch any games. They say they are launching but they never start. I understand linux is not a major gaming platform but Im trying hard not to have to run windows If i can help it. I've done some reasearch, but havn't seen anything posted on the internet yet.

Hello zombiewhisperer.

To run Steam, you install it from PlayOnLinux.

Well I finally got Steam installed at least on the laptop, not finished with the desktop yet. Installed steam through play on linux, ran Steam just fine but sometimes the chat windows disapear(little buggy) but for the mosty part it works. I was able to update and install games through steam without needing a windows parition to run Team Fortress 2. I was ALSO able to run the game in full native resolution with all video features. I loaded up the map a little choppy, but when everything came up I was able to run around and game without barely ANY lag on an older laptop. EUREEEKA!! She works. Thank goodness on better Nvidia drivers, better Ubuntu and better Wine Support. Funny enough that the game works better in linux on this laptop than windows :D

Alright, I have encounterd another issue that with researching found a few peoples "fixes" but none of them work so I thought I would post this question here.
I've installed Rosetta Stone through Wine and it works perfectly, but I still have to activate the discs for the lessons. This is my exact scenario, but its a general question for all software that needs ISO's mounted for use in Wine programs. I try and mount the ISO file using the built in "mount ISO" script when I right click it, I've tried doing a loop mount through the command prompt, I've tried adding the drive in Wine config and no matter how I seem to mount it, it wont mount so WIne applications can see and use that mounted ISO. Linux sees it and can use it fine, but wine will not see it as a virtual drive. I have ALOT of ISO files I mount frequently for games or applications and mounting using WINE isnt so friendly. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?

I was just trying to install Rosetta stone not Starcraft. I belive you are mixing me up with someone else. But, I did try and follow your mounting instructions and it fails or gets stuck at this step:
mkdir ~/virtualdrive/Drive0
It says it failed to make that directory or it the file does not exist? Am I doing something wrong?
