JimmyCroft.

Well it looks like the burn of the DVD isn't good one.
Try to Burn the ISO Image on speed 4 OR - the slowest that you have there.
I just hope you did not try to make the burn from MS = that will not work.
You need software that know how to burn ISO to get it done.

I burned 2.6 to a 4GB stick.
Ran it live:
Boots up quickly, but all mouse animations stop and I can't do anything other than move the mouse. No icons or menus work.

Running in low graphics mode resolved the above, but my attempt to restart froze with a black screen and nothing further happened. I also seems to have disabled my network in 2.5 although I did not install 2.6 at all.

Did you have formated your 4GB stick before you have extract the image to the stick?
And one more thing - do you use the fast USB exit?
And look once more on the TheeMahn How To please:

Well, it worked on the second boot, and I've installed it on a 30GB partition. It boots up in low graphics mode by default, and works baring a few tiny graphical issues, so I need to DL the drivers for it... if I can find them :D

Vespasian .

First of all make sure that you have the network on!
Then - go to system=>Administration=>Hardware Drivers.
Then Enable the 3D At the bottom ,and let it download and install the Driver for you.
Then Restart your machine.

I'm have a problem with version 2.6 booting off of DVD on my laptop. I get nothing but a black screen. It starts loading but then just stops. I can boot Ultimate Edition 2.4 with no problems.
I have a TOSHIBA Satellite M35X Notebook with 2gb ram and Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device. Here is a link to the report i got from booting Ultimate Edition 2.4.

There are some others trying various options with some success here:

Some posts of interest if I recall right were 17,19,31 and 61.

Yes 2.6 (10.04) brought some big changes but it's not just us, it's also affecting other distros. like fedora, gentoo and others.
