hi i think i've killed my sound :|
i have a Creative Titanium soundcard and one of the reasons why i use the Ultimate Edition is that this card worked "out of the box". but yesterday i tried to get my microfone work and after some tries i finnaly got it working.

but after i restarted 10 minutes ago my sound was gone :O
i installed a "alsa-driver-unstable" and hoped it will help to get my microfone work but it haven't. well.... even my ATI HDMI "soundcard" can't be identified :(

i will restart now in recovery mode and hope it will work there.

does anybody know how i can get my sound back to the standart settings? and well yeah i don't realy have any backups of my system (just one with rsync but i dont know if its complede).

EDIT: Well no sound here, too :(

hope someone can help me. or would it help to update to Ultimate Edition 2.7?

EDIT2: Ok here are some "outputs" just that you have them^^

You see the "Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe snd_ctxfi""... yeah me too... but see what happens:

Sounds like whatever you did to fix the microphone killed the sound. Try and backtrack what you did and see if you can find the culprit.

As far as upgrading from 2.6 to 2.7 goes. I think it's well worth it. Some of the 2.6 issues were fixed and it runs a lot smoother and faster for me anyway. Besides I love all the apps. in 2.7 since it has all the desktops like KDE, Gnome, LXDE etc...
;)
This part is interesting
Driver Status: snd_hda_intel is not active
Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe snd_hda_intel"

Still goint thru the rest

Looks like you have 3 audio devices.
xxx@mottiubuntu:/$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)
01:00.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc HD48x0 audio
05:00.0 Audio device: Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium series [EMU20k2] (rev 03)

Maybe it's a conflict.

I guess 2.7 would mean a fresh install so if you have it working now then not much sense in it if you don't use or want all the rest of what 2.7 has. Personally I like 2.7, it just runs better for me and has all the bells and whistles I have become used to having.
<BREW>
Glad you got it working.
