**solved** guake / yahuake visually not as good

Postby Fyra » Mon Dec 07, 2009 9:40 am

I particularly liked the way Guake looked by default in 2.3. There was partial transparency, but it was transparent all the way through to my wallpaper, rather than showing any applications open. That is to say, I am typing this into firefox now, in full screen mode. If I were to press F12 and have Guake drop down, the background to the Guake window would be my wallpaper, not firefox.

I never managed to get Guake to behave this way in non-UE distros, and one disappointment to me in Ultimate Edition 2.4 is that Yahuake does not behave this way at all either. I've tried to install Guake but I think perhaps it has been discontinued and replaced by Yahuake.

Does anyone know if it is actually possible to get Yahuake to appear this way? I know it isn't really important in the larger scheme of things, but I really did like it

Hello Fyra.

You can get Guake by simple clicking on "Applications--> Add/Remove Applications" then type guake in the search field and you will see it come up in the list for you to install!!

Look at the screen shot below of my guake in Ultimate Edition 2.5 x64.

Thank you so much. I do feel a bit silly; I'd tried to download Guake as a .tar file but it didn't look as it normally does after it installed, so I gave up. I have no idea why I didn't think to try the software center.
