I'm assuming your md5sum is correct?

honestly not sure how to check check the checksum on it.

Cell wrote:As for not getting the errors with ubuntu karmic...well Ultimate Edition is built off an earlier version then the karmic official release. So once you get the OS installed do an update...should clear up the issues.

I get it installed, its' just actually booting into the OS is the problem lol but yeah, "IF" i can boot up then i will for sure run the updates.

It makes no sense in trouble shooting until you know the checksum is correct. Please check it,and then if its good we can start trouble shooting. If by chance you choose not to check it,and some how log in it doesn't mean your o.k. You will have stability issues if you install an Os with a bad checksum.

And I want to see an screen shot of the md5sum check.

Ok...I have some time.Heres how.

If your on linux.

1:from synaptics install gtk-hash

2:open it up,and navigate to your iso image.Press start.Give it a few minutes, and it will spit out some letters, and numbers. This your md5sum.Match the string to the md5sum to the one listed on the download iso post. if it matches your good.If not you need to download again.

now when you determined that your download is good use a burner that checks the image when its done.

this is the downloaded checksum, so I also need to verify the burned dvd checksum? the burner does a verification against the iso image but i dont see anything about the checksum on it

now to address one of the other suggestions you made about logging into recovery mode...The problem that I listed is that for some reason the drives are not mounting (take a look at it again and see what you think) therefore if i cannot mount the drive upon bootup, i cant update grub, correct? cuz i did try recovery and it went to the busybox again and hung there not able to mount anything.

So far the only option i can see at this time is to install Karmic again and then install Ultimate Edition side by side with it to see if Grub from Karmic will boot Ultimate Edition up then.

Thats fine.Just make sure you use the option. If you have problems then try to burn at a lower speed.

I have verified the burn twice now and it's solid, so should I try what I mentioned above or is there a way to use the Karmic live CD to update the grub that Ultimate Edition installed?

If you can get to a cl you can update grub.

Code: Select all
update-grub

You can do it from the live dvd too.

One thing tho.I read they are changing that command to another...why I don't know, but Ill see if I can find the new command too.

Also keep in mind the Grub2 is under constant changes....still beta.
