Now Did you ;)

also a quick mention, you need to activate the ATI FGLRX driver under Hardware Drivers and then reboot again.

Amir...that driver doesn't work for more than half of ati cards now.

edit:I should say it doesn't out of the box.But theres is a way that a lot of people don't know about.Indecently I tried my trick on karmic, and it will work also, but you must roll the kernel back a few...not worth it for me.

The new 2.6.31-14 generic kernel of the new Karmic doesn't support again the microsoft vx 1000 lifecam webcam.
I tried all my known old trick and tips but nothing yet.All the tried drivers aren't allowed to be installed even, only errors.
Maybe they come with more new kernel updates or J. Francois comes with a new working driver for us. :( :?

Hi cell, The prop. drivers worked somewhat, but the out of box drivers work better, in both 8.10 and 9.04, With the prop. drivers Compiz would freeze right away and no open GL or Apps like Google earth, without turning off Compiz and switching to Metacity, with O.O.B. drivers I have acceleration ,at least enough to appreciate the total Ultimate Edition experience ! And Open GL Screensavers don't freeze right away, I will wait to experiment again with Ultimate Edition 2.4 and see what happens, All in All i am still happy with what I have :) But I would still like to have 100% acceleration , Ill take what I can get!! :D

Karmic is a different beast altogether. You won't have a xorg.conf file unless you can use the fglrx,or ATI driver.

But it is 100% better than the past(the open source drivers) I'm able to run compiz, fps online games, xbmc, mythtv, ect., right out of the box.Im still hacking at the radeon driver tho,but I don't see it being an improvement.

If crossfire is supported then ya you can.Don't quote me ,but I *think* CF is only supported in ATI's CCC.Not the one from ubuntu. The thing is tho if one card has higher specs i.e. mem timings then it will always revert back to the card with lower settings.I have CF x1600xt's but can't play with em because I can only use the open source driver(no Cf)....I am looking at new egg for new hardware tho. ;)
