I believe you can do this a couple of ways. Go to System> preferences> Startup applications, Click the "Add " button, Place the name of the App you want to start at boot (Google Gadget's) in "Name" Then Click The "Browse" botton, Navigate Filesystem>usr>share>Applications, find the App. you want to start, and "Double click" and close out the small window, There is also an "Options tab" with a check box to automatically remember running applications.
