well i have done that but i am not seeing a new driver....only the same old 2, atheros and ATI/AMD

That driver should be with jaunty.You might have to blacklist the anthros driver that keeps loading.Have looked into madwifi yet?

well i have change the networkmanager back to gnome network manager and i am now seeing the enable wireless checkbox when i right click on the icon...however, i am not seeing the jaunty driver...trying to remove the madwifi driver but it keeps popping up.

I think jrphorbin is on the right track.

If you need to know exactly what wifi chip you have(most windows wifi drivers have many versions for different chips in one driver) use the device manager.Applications>System tools.If you don't have the DM then get it from synaptics.

I'm wondering tho...did wifi work with the live dvd?

So...if thats the same driver that the poster needs(sorry I'm bad with names) ,and then its not getting loaded...something needs to be blacklisted.


Just read the debian link...looks good to me.But the backports I asked to be opened should have the driver too.If it does work...then score one more for debian.

DM=device manager.Its a gui to show what hardware you have installed.
