Hi,

Im trying to connect a laptop HDD with a IDE - USB cable and the drive wont show up in Ultimate Edition 2.2. it did however show up when booting live from ubuntu 7.10 but i got the following error:

$MFTMirr does not match $MFT (record 3). Failed To mount '/dev/sdi2': Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or you have hardware faults.

in ubuntu 7.1 i got this from fdisk -l:

Hello k50aker .

to me it looks like on the usb -HDD you have MS file system.
that is way you have those errors.
if you have Parted magic,firs format the usb -HDD to unallocated.
then you can install the U.E on it.

Yes. Also, it looks like the drive wasn't unmounted/safely removed properly!! Thats why I think hes getting those error messages. He should try connecting back the driver & safely remove it an try again!!

sorry for not clarifying myself, i have a problem with the hdd and i want to access it, for some reason i tdoes show up in ubuntu 7 but not in ue2.2. gparted didnt see it as well and when it did in ubuntu 7 it wasent able to check it, it crashed on me.

the hdd is a problematic one, and what im tryind to do is to access it so i can retrieve some data off it.

the that bugs me the most is that in Ultimate Edition 2.2 it doesent show up at all.

any help would be appreciated.

btw, its a ntfs disk. could it be the mbr??

Did you try using the live disk?May...may not work,but that live disk is a good tool to do much.

Hi k50aker .

O.K look at the packages that are marked as install,
and install them on the U.E system.
after installing them restart your machine and see if you can get in to your HDD.
