Compiz and emerald issues on 64bit 2.2 ultimate

Hi,
heard about Ultimate from ubuntu forums and trying it out. Still newish to linux but trying. Anyway i have 2 issue.
1. In compiz, i cant seem to get windows preview to work. The option is there, i can tick the box, but nothing happens.

2. Emerald themes. I cant apply them. nothing happens. tried the emerald --replace thing, did nothing for me.

Any help greatfully appreciated!
