rtsp and mms are the protocol, not the extension. asx is a referral file that links to the actual video file. I need a program for Linux(I have two for Windows) that can do that. Almost any download manager will download the actual video file if it is not rtsp or mms(or asx). You can always use video capture software to record a video, but if you have a slow internet connection(which a lot of people have) a video will not stream fast enough to make it playable. It is only practical to download it first, and then watch it. Having to pay hundreds of dollars on bandwidth just to watch a video at your home is criminal as far as I am concerned!!! Let the corporations pay the extra fees and give the home owner a break!!

I have already tried that out(and it works-very slow mind you). I'm looking for a gui(I'm done with syntax thank you very much). You can also do it with vlc(a pain in the ass mind you). Oh well, I'll keep looking.
Thanks for looking!!
