Help with ndiswrapper

Postby Jamdonot » Mon Oct 13, 2008 2:52 pm

Hello all, please excuse my totaly lack of knowledge, I only converted to linux about 3 days ago after years of Windows and MAC OS use. I have installed Ultimate Ubuntu 1.9, everything install great, however my internet connection when usng my wireless card was very slow. I found a tutorial on the ubuntu forums that instructed my how to install th ndiswrapper, and the correct windows drivers, in my case rt2500.inf. Now that I have installed the drivers I cant connect to te internet at all. The littlw network icon on the top right of the screen no longer has a wireless option, and neither wifi radar, or the other wireless manager in ultimate ubuntu can find my wireless card or router. I have installed windows again, bah hum bug, but needed to to allow me to try and find an answer on the net. One thing I should mention, I initially had the lateste version of ubuntu installed, the one from the ubuntu wedbsite, and whn i did the same procedure with the ndiswrapper everything worked great. Any help wuld be greatly appreciated, as I really want to start getting to gips with linux.

This is the tutorial I used

thats a nice tutorial their, although I have also tried the ndis wrapper route, it did not work very well for me for the atheros chipset ( have a screaming belkin N1 card) however, for my Toshiba laptop, the internal adapter was recognized by Ubuntu and Ultimate Edition 1.8, 1.9-32bit and 1.9-64bit.

now that being said, are you having an issue on a laptop, or a desktop?
If you are having an issue on the laptop, does ultimate edition recognize the card being inserted?

What model laptop are you using?

please post a bit more info, then we should be able to go from their, meanwhile WELCOME TO Ultimate Edition 1.9 <BREW>
