The problem I had was in 1.9 32bit, but not on that computer much...my 2.0 is running just fine... :|

Edit OK am in a 64bit 1.9 doing some updates in that...could of been a fluke what happened in 32bit or could just be a 32bit problem..?

I'm running 64bit too. I wonder why 32bit is having problems.

You can edit it with gedit and then "Ctrl+F" (find), in the search field type "problem"
That's the easiest way I know...

Anyway, did anyone find what's the problem with the Update script, the one that runs with the icon on the desktop?
I'm running 1.9 64bit, for your information, so this is not a 32bit only problem.
If I have time I'll dig in the script and see, perhaps it's using an old repo or something.

Sorry to confuse you. This thread was for the udate problems and you are posting about the "Upgrade Icon" There is no Update Icon on the desktop, it's the Upgrade Icon. The post I made about reading the script was referring to the Upgrade icon, the one you just asked about. The Upgrade icon seems to be trying to access a repo that no longer exists. That is why I was tryin to look through it to find where the problem is. The Upgrade icon looks like it may be a problem for TheeMahn to figure out. As for what Cowboy, I, and some others were talking about, 64bit seems to have no to minor problems updating while 32bit seems to be problematic. I have also noticed in another thread where some update and thought he ended up with Ultimate Edition 2.0 because of the new splash screen that was installed. Furthor proof that there is nothing wrong with the repos in 64bit.

Well, as I said before, nothing is wrong with the repos, I can confirm they're working fine too.
About the Upgrade Icon, I'll try to figure it out as soon as I get home and I'll post my results.

There was a problem with the 1.8 upgrade icon that wiped out the sources.list and replaced it with some bunk repo's in there I do recall. I think this all may stem back to the same spot.
Once again, it is an easy fix ..... comment them out or replace the bad with the good. I've already posted the correct repo address. I hope TheeMahn will respond to my PM that I sent him about the repo. At least if he responds, we can get somewhere with it.

I'm digging into the "/usr/share/ultimate/gamers.sh" script to see what's wrong. (Update Icon on desktops)

Problems I've found:
1. I've found this one quite at the beginning of the script
Code: Select all
update() {
 wget -O /tmp/gamers.sh http://repoubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/gamers.sh >/dev/null 2>&1

#Verify it did download it
RESULTS_SIZE=`stat -c %s /tmp/gamers.sh`
if [ "$RESULTS_SIZE" = 0 ]
then
    zenity --window-icon=/usr/share/ultimate/ubuntu_ico.png --info --text='It is suggested to re-run the script, the repo may be under a heavy load.  If the message persists, please verify you have an internet connection, the repo is online & try again.  Please refer to UbuntuSoftware Forum for further info.' --title="Ultimate Edition";
    exit 0
fi

When trying to manually connect to that address I get an "Oops, page not found" error I guess the path is wrong now on the new repo server. And there you have the error message you get shortly after trying to run the Upgrade Script with the desktop icon. (attached here, compare the text)

2. Same thing here:
Code: Select all
gksudo rm /usr/share/ultimate/playlist.m3u
cd /usr/share/ultimate/
gksudo wget http://ubuntusoftware.info/upgrades/tunez/playlist.m3u

3. I've found some other places in the script where it downloads from the same server, but I'm not sure if all of them will have errors, to make long story short, every time that "wget" AND "http://repoubuntusoftware.info/" are mentioned in the script, it needs to be revised, whether fix the script, or just fix the relative paths at the server, I guess the data is there somewhere, so maybe a simple softlink to every "missing" file will be the fastest.

I hope it helps.
