Update Mgr

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.9

Update Mgr

Postby buschbarber » Sun Sep 21, 2008 12:23 am

I recently installed 1.9. I was prompted to install 13 updates. Several days later, I was prompted to install another update, but when I clicked on the icon and Update Mgr loaded, it said it was doing a Partial Download. I clicked OK, and it subsequently informed me that it could not update azureus and libaudacious, for some reason. It did not install the Security update either. Azureus and Audacious were installed with 1.9. I did not install them.

You might try to give this command in a Terminal or Konsul
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get -f install

This will help fix dependency's..also go into Synaptics I believe in Edit..click fix Broken Pkgs...you are getting that message probably because of dependacies problems ;)

Well - I did a couple of things. It was suggested to me that I uninstall Audacious and Azureous, as they were referenced when I was having Update problems. Once I did that, Updates resumed normally, without incident. I also looked at Update Manager and saw that the Download Location was set up Custom. I looked at all the choices and clicked on Choose the Best Server, and it picked Columbia University, I have been getting prompts, every few days, to Download and Install Updates, so it must be working.

Is there a particular Download Location I should be using, for Ultimate 1.9?

There are so many software programs available. I have no idea what all of them do or which ones are the best for a particular application. I know Azureous was a Bit Torrent client I used to use in Windows. Should I reinstall it or are there other choices that are better?

I do not know much about Audacious.
