Can't find AWN after installing applets

Postby xj0hnx » Sun Sep 14, 2008 6:59 pm

So I tried installing some applets for AWN using this guide...

http://linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2008/02/c ... buntu.html

Well, I didn't notice in the comments that it uninstalls it, or overwrites it, or...something, anyway, I reinstalled AWN, and the Manager is now showing up in System > Preferences, but I can't for the life of me, get AWN itself to run. I set it to start automatically on login, logged out, and logged back in but no go. I can't seem to find the program executable anywhere. Any hints, on how to locate, and run it?

You have to have compiz running for AWN to work. These two commands should get you back and happ'n'n
First hit ALT +F2 then type:
Code: Select all
compiz --replace

Then hit ALT+F2 again and enter:
Code: Select all
avant-window-navigator

If you need to change any settings with AWN, then hit ALT+F2 again and enter:
Code: Select all
awn-manager

Speaking of AWN (or any other program), how do I get it to start automatically when the desktop starts up?

Thanks

O my gosh!!! Talk about being brain dead. I wonder4 how many times I looked at the preferences and didn't see the check box for start at login. Must be time for more caffeine or more sleep.

Did I win the stupid award today? :o
