Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 2.66Ghz
Nvidia Gforce 9800GTX+ PCIe 512Mb

I have tried to run MySQL Admin. The error was Unable to connect to host rich-desktop.

The second picture is where your mysql password is(File System-etc-mysql-debian.cnf)
p.s. Your view needs to be set to show hidden files.

I found the debian.conf and set the view to show hidden files. The icon displays with a Red X in the upper right corner and will not open as it cannot find and application to open it.

MySQL Administrator appears in Applications/Programming menu, but when I try to run it, it ends with an error regarding UserID and Password

Look at the first picture: go there and open up mysql-admin from there(Places-Computer-File system-usr-bin-msql-admin) You will have to open up your connection editor.
To open a configuration type file you need to right click and open it with gedit.
F.Y.I To see what files are include in any package you install from Synaptic look at the properties. This will tell you where the binaries are located.
Are you logged in as root. If you are not you will not be able to change anything!!!
p.s. Before you post back start clicking things. That is how you will learn. Don't be afraid to screw something up. You can always re-install in less than a hour!!
