I just finished re-reading this post and we are all going nowhere at this point.
This is what you are going to do whether you like it or not!!
Grab yout vista disc and format the whole drive as ntfs. This will fix any errors in ntfs.
Then take your ultimate disc and using gparted set up 2 partitions of equal size(250 gig per-first one ntfs the other ext3). Technically you can set up 64 partitions on an ide drive but why???
Then install vista on the first partition. Boot up make sure it works(turn off page filing).
Then install Ultimate on the second partition. Boot up make sure you choose the first option in grub make sure ultimate works.
Do not use a swap partition, you don't need one!!
Now you have a nice clean setup!!
Then you are going to dowload and burn gparted live puppy linux and whatever other recovery tools you need so that when this happens again you will be well prepared to do a recovery in no time.
You may not like this now, but you will thank us down the road.
p.s. If you are not going to listen to anyone you won't learn anything in life!! Start practicing your listening and comprehension skills now before it's too late!!!
