Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.9

I'm in Love...

Postby Jeffdaddy » Fri Sep 19, 2008 1:09 am

I love Ultimate Edition. It's installed and it's running perfectly. I've loaded a couple of program with Wine. I've updated the Distro and it's great. I wonder what is the use of the upgrade program on the desktop? How many times can I use it? Would it have taken me from 1.8 to 1.9? Also is there a way to make a copy of my Ultimate Edition? Not necessarily a copy I guess more so a backup or a Ghost of it.
Thanks
UE-Jeff

Welcome :D The "Upgrade Icon" offers you several options: Gamers Edition, Ultimate Edition, or Custom..on the question of 1.8 to 1.9 "NO" As far as backups and such: check out #12 in the "Newbie" section, there are lots of options detailed out there including "Remastersys" and "QucikStart"

For more info on the Upgrade Icon, read: 4 Upgrade ~vs~ update, and the upgrade script, from Newbie's Corner.

For more info on backing up your installation of Ultimate Edition, read: 12 Backup guide, from Newbie's Corner.

For Ghosting your drive in Linux, use Remastersys or my personal favorite Partimage (available in Synaptic)
Partimage is a small app you start from the command line with sudo partimage, it opens up a GUI that gives you the options to copy a partition to another drive, a CD or a DVD.
