Thanks for the kind words Mahn, I scrolled up to see exactly how I posted and I see I put a not obvious enough disclaimer. I snipped the part from a few post up. I should have said DO NOT DO THIS PERIOD or not posted what I had done at all. I was excited because Hardy is way faster on my system and .. well I wont mention the AND's but everyone should be very happy when 1.8 gets done. I apologize to anyone who tried this and had to reinstall. I have a back up plus as Thee mentioned I I can get thing pretty fast like.

BELOW IS WHAT I SAID IN MY FIRST POST
I would not suggest anyone do this unless your ready to start from scratch. I had all day to kill and went for it.

Well I'd say between Cowboy, Zero and you Cab that everyone was pretty much forewarned. So those that do try and crash their system, ya'll have the "I told you so" full rights ;). Me, I'd sure enuff try it BUT, I've got enough other things going on right now I'm sorting thru. Figuring all what I learn from 1.7 will get me closer to being of more use around here. Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye out for 1.8, put it on here to dual boot, then go from there. I could prolly make more progress in all this if I didn't try to cram so much in
