No issues at all. Ultimate edition can run on much lower specs than that. no worries there friend. ;)

I,ve got a silly question.wanting to run an 64 bit os and reciently inhearted an intel x2 t2400 duo core.
what does any think? will it run the 1.8 x64 ?? also just for the kicks, it has 2 gig of ram. I was looking at the 1.7 64 and it says amd?? does that just signfy 2 cores??
believe it or not someone just gave it to me,they could'nt keep it running. it has the vanilla ubuntu and its going along fine. only time will tell.

I tried a similar thing (installing 1.7 64 on a lousy 1 gig ram / Intel T2130 1.86GHz laptop, also with lousy integrated 945 family graphic chip BTW; I've got it as a present with VISTA ultimate pre-loaded... :()

I did this as a complete computer architectures / Linux newbie, and without any adjustments,
as I don't know any.

It beeped and said I need to try the 32 bit version as my processor doesn't support long integers.
(I can't cite this.)

*I GUESS THIS WOULD APPLY TO 1.8 TOO - (I am not sure) - I couldn't test it off course.

Just to test, I re-tried with a never-used before vanilla Ubuntu 7.04 or 7.10 64 bit CD (not sure which),
and got the same result.

This post is IRRELEVANT now and *WRONG*. (I've mistaken. it's not a 64 bit processor...)
Only because there is already a reply, I guess I should not remove it. My apologies.

Ok, don't hate me for this but, Intel T2130 is 32 bit CPU. It has 2*32 bit cores, and so it can't run 64bit OS. You can check it on Intel site. It's a Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo CPU. I know, I used to have one.
