using mobile as edge dial up modem

2 weeks ago i found this edition. It works great. Now i need to connect to the internet.
I want to know from you experienced user of what company i should buy my mobile set.
I've heard that using mobile as edge dial up modem will reudce it's lifetime.
It's a bit confusing and i'm confused
about should i buy a edge enabled set or edge modem.
Again i've googled a little and found that edge modem are not a good choice
and difficult to configure.
What's your opinion.?
I'll be greatfull.
And how to configure the set to use as edge dial up modem.
