kernel update borked my 1.8?(Solved)

Ok, here goes my ignorance again...I have 1.8 (I believe 32 bit) running on 1 machine...had been working perfectly, until (I think) a kernel update??? Was running 2.6.24-19...and I think the update took me to 2.6.24-21...Now when I start, it reverts to low graphics mode, if I restart, hit escape, then select generic 2.6.24-19, everything is fine??? How do I get back to where I was, or how do I fix " -21" so that everything is back to normal???

I guess you have to re-install all your restricted drivers using envy.

Well, I certainly hate that! Trying to move the giant "X" cursor is like rolling a bolder around the screen

   Yeah, no brail method here! Ok, for those of you who are as much in the dark as I am, here's what I did that "seemed" to work...move the giant "X" to continue..click... then when you get to your desk-top..go to Applications>System tools>Envy...and select "Uninstall Nvidia"...let it do it's thing.I think there was a restart, then when you get back to your desktop, Application>system tools>Envy..."Install Nvidia"...restart, and things seem, at least for now to be back to normal :D ...."friggin updates  "

Stop complaining, Deate!! When I bought my new system I got all on board!! Video, Audio etc.
When you get a new system make sure everthing included is Linux friendly and on board!!

Complaining is my strong suit! You know, what I do best in life  I just hate that simple updates make you have to re-evaluate what happened to a system that was working perfectly...this in it self is enough to drive converts back to Windows...IMHO...instead of pouring his money into making a "Pretty" GUI, the Head Honcho ought to pour that money into making sure updates don't bork drivers :D

Have any of you verified that your not running 'unsupported' or 'back ports' in your software sources for updates??? I know I got bit- in the backside a couple weeks ago, cause somehow it was selected - I don't remember selecting them and am very cautious about it (I've been bit before). :?:
