Diddo!! I'm ashamed to be a Canadian knowing that one of our provinces does not recognize Linux!! I would complain to the premier of Nova Scotia and tell him to smarten up or you will lobby to have them cut off from federal funding(considering you live in the richest province Ontario)!!

Hi everyone, well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem. I tried OPERA, SEAMONKEY,and EPIPHANY, they all do the same thing. I tried INTERNET EXPLORER for linux and had only part of the screen show up. This is a major problem when doing genealogy. I went on the linux forums and somebody complained about the same problem stating that Viewpoint Media has spyware. Any suggestions now besides returning to Windows XP

I suppose you could try running it through wine(install the windows version of Firefox 2 and then the Viewpoint plug-in). It's worth a shot rather than using Windows.

Hi again, I installed ie6 for linux and tried to view documents on Nova Scotia Archives and could only get the bottom 3 lines. I give up on viewpoint unless someone knows how to install it directly to ubuntu. This does put a crimp in my research. I'll now have o go to the library to do research I should be able to do from home.

Is this what you are looking for?
If it is this is what you do:
Install Wine(you may already have it)
run configure Wine(set it up for Windows xp-set up your sound, desktop integration etc)
Install the Windows version of Firefox 2.0 from here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/4403/
Open up your Windows version of Firefox
Install the Viewpoint plugin from here:
http://www.viewpoint.com/technologies/v ... ayer.shtml
You should be good to go. Wine is tricking the Viewpoint plugin into thinking you have Windows installled!!
I just did it and it seems to work. Hopefully everything will go well for you!!
