What kernel are we running in 1.8 32bitr and 64bit?

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.8

What kernel are we running in 1.8 32bitr and 64bit?

Postby DaddyX3 » Wed Sep 24, 2008 7:58 pm

I'm curious because I did a fresh install of what I thought was 1.8 32bit and ended up with a conglomeration of a personal distro and a Ultimate Edition version that is its own beast!! This was purely un-intentional (I would never dirty a perfectly good Ultimate Edition ;) )
So my first piece of evidence is the upsplash is definately 1.8 (UE-blue dragon). Secondly the shear #'s of applications is a good indication that it is a Ultimate Edition distro.
However, Wallpaper???? What walpaper .. its poo brown all the way (not like my personal distro either!!!).
The top panel - sized @ aprox. 55-60 (see screen shot below) This is how I like to roll + no bottom panel at all. (not Ultimate Edition style either)

When I do a uname -a I receive the following for a kernel, but don't know what it is supposed to be.
Here is even a more interesting thing for you.... I installed what I thought was Ultimate Edition 1.8 32-bit, my personal distro is based off a 64-bit Hardy install. How???? Don't know, but that is why I'm asking for some info on what you guys see. Once again, run 'uname -a' in a terminal and this is what I get:

And last but not least... the scariest # of updates that I've seen outta any distro!!! I know mine was updated right before build (aprox. 2 months ago):

Poo brown is the Ubuntu colour. That is what first turned me off it. Have you been getting enough sleep lately? Maybe some Ubuntu terrorists have decided that poo brown is your colour and are resentful that you are trying to run a better os than theirs which they stold from Debian anyway. I guess it's just one of life's mysteries which will never be solved!!

R U sure about the 1.8 being Red???? I know 1.6 was blue, but it had a completley different wallpaper (giant Ultimate Edition logo).
I thought that 1.7 was Red and 1.8 was blue. Anywho, where's my answer beeeeeooootch!?
type in 'uname -a' and tell me what your kernel says if you happen to have 1.8. Let me know which kernel is for which version of 1.8 ... in other workds don't tell me that it is kernel 0-22-007 and not tell me which version of 1.8 your runn'n ;) I think I'm going to wipe it out anyways, cause its a mutant that was created by Hardy's installer 'magic' I don't know how many times I've been hosed by Hardy's installer screwing me out of my home folder or some other settings from another partition .. and so on
