im running this little printer and im told my ink levels are low. after installing a new cartridge and aligning the test page im still told the ink levels are low. where do i go to check out how low the ink levels are? :?

Typically there's a software application, like a control panel, specific to your printer that you have to open. In one of the options you "inform" the printer that you've installed new toner cartridges. There's no actual sensor that's being read, by the way, the "Low Toner" warning is generated by how many pages have been printed; regardless of how much printing was ON those pages.

Printer manufacturers don't make money on printers, they make money selling you toner.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am...

If it's not broken, you haven't tweaked it enough.

ok. i installed this printer while installing UU1.8. it happened automagically. i still have the driver cd at work but of course it is designed for MS. is it right then that i can not check to see if the levels are as low as it appears?

Yes, you open up the printer and if it is a white translucent ink container you "look" at it ;)

honestly though witblits- I haven't had much luck with Linux drivers for printers. They never have all the options that the Windows counter-part does. If someone else has found a good program or set of utilities for printers a link would be greatly appriciated :!:

Just go to Add-remove programs> make sure all available applications are highlighted, Now search for HP toolbox
