3 users

hello to all
just have to ask a simple question. when i go to ctrl,alt,f1 then top
i see all my process running,but up at the top of the screen i see users and its showing
that there are three?? i see root and i see my name there but who's the third??
the break down is only about 15 lines long(processes), i know there is more but how do i see them??
I know I'm probly just being parinoid but i want to know who's the 3rd on my machine???
help please
also tell me I'm being parinoid.

Howdy sate...I only show 2 users (myself/root), I don't know who/what a 3rd would be...press space bar to see more...

how can i tell if somone has got into my system?? hald pop's up as a user
then i just saw a messageb pop up as a user??
cpu memoryand ram are all ok,tryed to reboot nothing different??
help my parinoia,if somone was hacking into my machine,what would i see??

sate, I'm not sure enough myself to even try to advise you...would be better for one of our network guru's to suggest what to do...in the meantime (shouldn't be to long before someone more experienced in this than I am to come along) you can check out Nessus and Wireshark in Add/Remove under Apps if you want to...sorry I'm not much help for ya there

What is the "users" name? What is it listed as?

its strange,mesageb pops up as a user for just a second(then dissapers?)
then haldemon also pops up also?? no defind name except root and the users name??
i've checked everything i could think of,even tryed to kill the process and it wont let me.
i know not to mess with hal(been there done that!) to no avail? all the other machines only have 2
users. also have to add to all this, this is my wifes machine. so its anyones guess what she does when I'm not around??

I'm prolly all the way out the ballpark with this one , but anyway...Sys/Admin/Login Window...under users...anything strange goin' on there???
