DVD Playback

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.8

DVD Playback

Postby jtb » Mon Jul 14, 2008 10:27 pm

Hi

I have installed Ultimate Edition 1.8 64 bit ver. I can not get commercial DVDs to play back. I have visited the Ubuntu forum but there are so many posts on the subject.

Is there a simple guide to getting dvd playback going?

Thanks
Jack :?:

Try this in the terminal:

sudo aptitude install libdvdnav4 libdvdplay0 libdvdread3 libdvdcss2

See if that helps.

Open synaptic, search for and install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package. That should do it.

Thanks Guys

I tried both things no luck. I think I have fiddled too much with my UE1.8 install so I reinstalled 32 bit Hardy Heron and followed the Comprehensive Multimedia & Video How-to as suggested and it worked.

I am getting a new video card in next month or two and will go back to Ultimate Edition 1.8 then.
