laptop iinstall

installed to desktop works great
installing to laptop it shutsdown in middle of install laptop is warm
some kind of thermal issue
is there something i should do different during install?
it is a cool running laptop most of time
it is a acer aspire 7720
core-duo intel 1.73
4 gig ram
2-200 gig harddrives sata

wow that's the best specs i've seen for a lappy in a while. Nice!

you say that the computer completely crashes like goes black? could it be your battery? could it be your power supply? also, have you tried an external dvd drive, the heat could be caused by your optical drive working so hard during the install. ;)

As Big V said, Your specs are not the problem.

I suggest the first section Save yourself some headache
and the next section on Power Management Software.

I'd double check your specs. I've never seen an Acer 7700 series with anything outside a Centrino-class proc (e.g. the T5450 (not that the 5450 isn't dual core, but they run slower than 1.7Ghz too)).

I'd also love to know where, exactly, Acer managed to stuff an additional hard drive in a standard-sized notebook computer. That's bordering on magical!

it is plugged in during install it shut off at about 75% and is very warm
when upgrading my hardrive to 7200 rpm i found the other drive bay by accident
must be a extra bonus with bigger17" lappys
and added a second hdd.too bad it can'tbe run as a raid ;)
checked cpu with cpu-z show up as a 1.73 dual core cpu.
