You can open a Terminal and type lspci...you should see i830 in there somewhere....another way is while in Terminal type sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf (that's capital 'X' for X11)...scroll down to video section and see what's there...

To be honest with you, I have no idea how these cards perform and if compiz will be supported with the drivers or not. You should find the latest drivers for your card here:
http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/
Good luck, and let us know how things turn out or if the drivers supplied with Ultimate Edition are up to date with the ones off the intel site ;)

idk if these are the same drivers that come with Ultimate Edition but you could check this site out also

http://www.intellinuxgraphics.org

main page is talking about them being for the 965 and g35. but if you click hardware matrix on the left side it does give some indecations it could work with the 830 with a few problems tho.

the following quote is from that section

Tested with 1.4 to 2.1.1, works very well and stable. Even Compiz-Fusion/Aiglx runs good. Just some problems with opened opengl-windows (like glxgears) and moving the cube. The opengl-window stays where it has been opened, and doesnt move with the cube. The framebuffer works only with vesafb. If I use vesafb-tng, I am not able to switch between a console and the x-server.

of course it also states that user was using gentoo and not Ultimate Edition so your results may vary. its worth a look tho.
