You can open a Terminal and type lspci...you should see i830 in there somewhere....another way is while in Terminal type sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf (that's capital 'X' for X11)...scroll down to video section and see what's there...bikindude wrote:How can i tell if im using the correct video card drivers. My display seems to freeze up quite often on my laptop. Its using whatever the default driver it installed when i installed the OS, i haven't installed any other drivers. My laptop has a dell i830 graphics card.
Tested with 1.4 to 2.1.1, works very well and stable. Even Compiz-Fusion/Aiglx runs good. Just some problems with opened opengl-windows (like glxgears) and moving the cube. The opengl-window stays where it has been opened, and doesnt move with the cube. The framebuffer works only with vesafb. If I use vesafb-tng, I am not able to switch between a console and the x-server.
