Hi, I'm having similar problems...would you mind posting what you did to get compiz working?
Everything works for me, apart from the windows borders, even when I select them on the compiz settings manager.
Thanks!!

Thanks!
I fired up Compiz fusion icon and that did the trick. Can switch between Emerald/GTK, and borders are working in both cases now with compiz turned on.
Without it, compiz does not seem to work with GTK/Emerald very well for some reason.

:D :D :D

when I activate compiz, my system restarts I have to re-log in again, is there a way to circumvent this?
Also, compiz is still not activated. I have tried disabling some of the funky features in compiz hoping that it would be better able to reactivate. seeing as how I am on my laptop. but to no avail, I am now trying to find out how to activate my window manager. gnome/emerald/gtk/(somesnottynosedkidnamedchuckmakin$4.25anhour). I have been searching the forums and nothing has helped.

any help would be appreciated.

totally lost my buttons again, after about five restarts, I went back to System>> Preferences>>Sessions.

went to the Session options tab clicked on the automatically remember running applications.

activated the fusion Icon again and quickly clicked on the Remember Currently Running Applications "Bar"
