I'm going to assume he already managed to burn the DVD the issue is more likely he doesnt have the DVD player/recorder set in the BIOS to look for bootable cd first. Kinda like you could turn on and off floppy seek on boot as well. I usually have mine off for faster boot times but I am aware to reenable when needed.

(edit) Forgot to add the replys are correct tho you have to have a 64 CPU to run it if not you will be aware of problem shortly after trying to install.

Postby tomubuntu » Thu May 15, 2008 7:01 pm

I see that Fedora came out with version 9.0, how would this compare to Ubuntu 8.04?
which one is better?

Kind of a matter of personal choice.
The most glaring difference is how they handle packages.
One is RPM and the other is .deb, so they have totally different package systems.
Personally I think Synaptic is the Bomb-diggity. Without a doubt the most user friendly.
I suppose the downside of using Ultimate Edition is you become spoiled, it's hard to use anything else because it raises the standard you become used to and the other OS's seem to be lacking.
