Do These Restricted Hardware Drivers Enabled Through System/Admin/Hardware Drivers Update To The Latest Drivers Through Our Normal Updates.Also I Downloaded The Latest ati-driver-installer-8-6-x86.x86_64.run From Amd,Is This A Viable Solution If Its Even Possible.Im Out Of My League Here.I Viewed The Ati How To Updated 4/19/2008 In The How Tos And See Nothing About This File Mentioned? Thanx..............Smuggly

PS Im Having Trouble With My Resolution Cant Get To 1280X1024 Altough Its Listed On The Gui.Sometimes It Will, But Cuts The Bottom Quarter Of My Desktop Off? Its Really No Big Deal But I Feel Something Maybe Be Wrong With My Conf?

are you getting compiz? the best way to install video drivers is to use envy, apps>system tools>envy, does everything for you, and the drivers that that downloads are updated through the normal ubuntu updates, but the restricted drivers update from there too. about the resolution, are you sure that your monitor is 1280x1024?

I Dont Use Compiz,Amd Yes About The Monitor,Ill Try Envy,I Had Trouble With It B4 Should I Backup Xorg.conf?

i highly suggest using either the hardware drivers applet or envy. i wrote that howto but its is severly broken at the moment. i been trying to figure out the problem for almost 2 months now but havent had any luck. the build fails every time. there is something wrong with the packaging scripts.

the reason why you didnt see that file mentioned explicitly though is because ati issues a new driver ever month. and every month the file name is different.

however if you always want the newest that you can get. i would use envy. the ones avaliable through hardware drivers are almost nvr the latest ones. ubuntu has a very bad habit of only updating them when they (ubuntu) drop a new release.
