I keep getting notices updates are available. I've uninstalled the update program, reinstalled it, keep getting notices to check network. Been on five networks with same results. Can't seem to get autoloader piece. I've got 791 files of 830 plus and still no update or upgrade. This is getting to be a pain. Been to 3.5, but like 3.4 better. any suggestions would be helpful

Here is what I'm receiving

Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/stebbins/handb ... 1_i386.deb 404 Not Found

FYI, I've loaded 3.4 to a SDHC 32GB chip. It works very well and gives me the portability of moving the OS from computer to computer, without having to carry a computer with me. I just use a card reader. Maybe a bit slow, but the chip gives me 20mb per second transfer speed.

In fact, I've done this with five other OSs and the 3.5 I put onto a 64gb chip.

BarryVG, forget upgrading as you will run into lots of problems..
Do a fresh install of Ultimate edition and only run:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update

If you upgrade it tries to jump from 12.04 to 13.04(im guessing)... its Not recommended..Do a fresh install, maybe upgrade
your browser and/or kernel to the latest...depending on your hardware..

That error is from a 32 bit handbrake package....are you using 64 bit Ultimate Edition??

PLEASE write down your signature(hardware specs) in your profile.

Have you installed on flash drive or are you running it live??(will give errors if you are running it live because you mention you use
different hardware, installed OS wont work on different hardware, only similar..)

Greetings,

I'll go the reinstall. The 3.4 is running on a SDHC card 32gb which is hosted on an ACER Aspire One
Netbook. Dual Atom CPU N455 at 1.66ghz. 2gb memory
I initially loaded the SDHC on a Dell with dual processors ayt 1.7 ghz,
I've done this so I can experiment with different Linux flavors and not have to work the internal hard drive.
All the other ones have not had an issue with updating, just this one.

3.4 lite install should work fine..(id recommend 32 bit)
that's an upgrade error, dont try to upgrade Ultimate Edition...just run the update command from terminal.

keep us updated..

Greetings again,

I've been downloading the 2.6.1 LTS and that is taking my current attention. Once that is done, then I'll be downloading the 3.4 Lite.

FYI, I"m of Dutch descent, therefore, I'm a cheap, penny-pinching, stingy, miserly grink. Yes, I still run dial-up at home. With so many locations offering broadband download, why should I upgrade the home connection?

Both will probably be downloaded this week. Then onto reloading the SDHC chips. My current netbook is running a version of Ubuntu put together by a consortium of educators in Maine. This image is over two years old and it doesn't allow for updating. I haven't found the current image, so I'm thinking that I'll replace it with the 3.4 Lite.
I'll advise when this is done.
Thanks for all the help so far.
Barry

Off-Topic :
Just to let you know, the 2.6 series has reached it's end with 2.6.7. Life is much easier with the later versions. The support is over :(

Greetings,
The download of 3.4 was a couple days process, but no issues. Installed on 2 April to a SDHC 32gb chip and it is working well on my sandbox system. I did note a fewer apps than the previous edition. Will be checking it out for a couple more days before I make a decision on to load this to my Acer or move onto 3.5
Have a great day, it is snowing here.
