32 Days down!?!

Postby TheeMahn » Fri Mar 01, 2013 4:05 am

I would like to welcome you back after a 32 day downtime episode. I suppose I should first explain what happened to cause such issues as well as inform you the steps I have taken to ensure it does not happen again.

First the downtime... I applied for a Paypal debit card, this Paypal account in question is my account and I have had this account for 9 years I mind you. For them to suspend or "limit" my account telling me that I needed to provide them 3 pieces of information to remove this limitation 1. Proof of SSN 2. Proof of residency and 3. Photo ID, like they did not know who I was the first 9 years... During the limitation (suspension) from Paypal hosting became due which is automatically paid via Paypal & since my account was limited the hosting did not get paid even though the funds for it were in there. After appropriate documents were sent to Paypal and awaiting for full account access to be restored the hosting company placed my hosting service in a cancelled status. So the servers were no longer there and within 30 days the backup would also be destroyed. I personally hold Paypal responsible and I am in the process of getting a new provider.

What has been done to rectify the situation? $150 restoration fee as well as a year of hosting paid up front. I would like to thank all of those that donated and all those that have donated in the past to help bring the sites back to full functionality. At current time I do not have anything to offer on the site, but I encourage those that have donated to please visit our new home for donators. My way of saying thanks to all of you.

I just want to thank you again TheeMahn for providing this forum that is the most useful and helpful on the internet! There is not one day that passes, that I forget how much help and information I have received here! Also have great gratitude for all those that were able to contribute and have to say, you all have done the world a great service! I hope one day to also be able to contribute monetarily, but at present am an unemployed student. I would also love to issue Paypal a big boo at this time! To put a damper on a site as invaluable as Ultimate is a sheer travesty. This forum should be considered Prime Example how a forum is run. Think about it! No one here cuts another down. There is simply help, advice and friendship offered here! In this day and age, is the rarest even more so than the finest of diamonds!!!! Not only that, if a problem is not solved immediately, it is investigated and solved eventually! I dare someone to explore other forums to see if that fact exists there! Most forums do not come close to the professionalism I have observed here! Once again I offer my salute to everyone here on maintaining the most exemplary professionalism I have ever seen in my life! Long Live Ultimate and always best wishes to everyone that makes this possible!!!

I was deeply upset by your experience of Financial Institutional Incompetence! I tried to donate using Credit Card but I need a PayPal account apparently! When I went to the donation page it looked like a store page where you had the option to use a Credit Card instead but wanted me to sign up for PayPal which is something I never intend to do! If there could be some way of setting up donations that just use credit cards that would be great. I was deeply upset when reading what pains you have been through with PayPal! Take care of yourself TheeMahn - it is great to have you back and the forum online! Sorry I have not been around a lot as I have been busy mod'ing on another forum! Because of the downtime I took off UE3.4 as it kept wanting updates it could not get to - look forward to putting it back on the machine later this week!

Warmest regards,
swarf'

Hi Blackwolf, That is what I thought I was doing! I noticed that Firefox needed updating so I did that and still it was asking for a password! I will try on this Zorin box (should not have tried to do it on Windows 7 Starter on HP Mini!
