I just tried loading Ultimate Ubuntu 1.5 on my Acer Aspire 1690 and it freezes once booted and logged in, I try clicking on icons and nothing happens. The mouse moves but nothing is clickable.

There is a possibility that your comp might not be specced enough to run Ultimate Edition...my aspire 5570 can barely run Ultimate Edition...it often freezes while using a livecd...didnt install Ultimate Edition on the lappy since i knew it wouldnt be able to handle it.
