Sound in Ultimate Edition v/3.0 {SOLVED}

Hi Folks!

In MS WIN (XP, WIN 7, etc.) one can access the Sound Window from the Control Panel. In the Sound Window and, in the Sound Tab, one can access the ability to manipulate and apply sound to most any application, including but not limited to, in-coming email.

How does one effectively accomplish basically the same function in E.U. v/ 3.0?

Thak you so much in advance! :)

Hi Blackwolf!

Thanks for responding! :)

Yup! I knew about 'Sound Preferences.' I'd been in there a number of times, actually.

I was just wondering, though, if there is additional potential for sound applications in other than: "Enable window and button sounds"!?

In the Applications tab all I see is: "No application is currently playing or recording audio."

Once again, thank you so much for responding! :)

Regards, Lee

Hello, erko, Blackwolf,
could we clarify something here. What is it you really want to do erko?
Is it just to enable pulse-audio & or jack for multimedia purposes or to apply system-sound events ,such as, when opening e-mail you could ( for example) hear a voice saying " incoming ", and " accepted " when typing a password at prompt? :vil2_torero

Hi Blackwolf & Billie!

Thank you so much once again, Blackwolf! :)

And Billie, thank you for inquiring . . .

"...Is it just to enable pulse-audio & or jack for multimedia purposes or to apply system-sound events ,such as, when opening e-mail you could ( for example) hear a voice saying " incoming ", and " accepted " when typing a password at prompt?..."

To answer your question, Billie, actually, all of the above!

However, one thing that I am particularly used to (from MS Windows) is 'hearing' audible notification of incoming e-mail. It helps me to be multi-functional, responsibly.

I am unable to locate anything that points to the solution in either Evolution or the Ultimate Edition OS.

Once again, thank you so much for responding! :)

Hello again erko,
there is a set of sounds called " hacker evolution" which were originally set up in a previous version . they are in the file system somewhere but I am not sure where.
Someone inquired about these before and I think they were given instructions on setting them up. However, I don't know how to do it myself but Blackwolf or one of the system admins may be able to point you to the right thread, although I am not sure if it was on this forum or the OZ forum. Hopefully someone else will get back to you on that.
In the meantime you could look through some of the old posts to see if you can find the reference. It might take you a while though.Sorry I can't help more. :P

I just learned that Ultimate Edition v/ 3.1 is right around the corner, which I'm gonna' seriously get into. And I think that means that I'll have to do this stuff all over again anyway. So, it probably isn't prudent to pursue this any issue further. As, the newer version may well resolve this issue anyway.

Therefore, for the time being, I'll mark it "[SOLVED]."

Thanks all for taking your time and effort in sharing your knowledge about this stuff. I. for one, greatly appreciate all the input and help from you folks.

Regards,
Lee
