Deleted animations BUG or operator error ?>SOLVED<

Postby JOHNNYG » Wed Jun 24, 2009 4:17 pm

I have been experimenting with 2.2 and seem to have found an issue with animation add-ons;fire,beam,ect.if you don't set animations up right away, and turn everything on you probably won't notice it till it's to late ! THEY GET DELETED! I like to get all the effects up and running right off on a new install so I know that the base system is stable and everything works,on initial install and set up all goes as expected - then I start with the upgrades, then add-ons,like gimp stuff, applets, things of that nature, next i usually go to ubuntu tweak and start the "tweaking".- Now after re-installing 2.2 SEVEN times ! (I know,...but I'm a glutton for punishment!) I think I have narrowed it down. (Please be patient with my ramblings) I only bring this up because i have installed 2.1 many many times and never had this happen , maybe I'm doing something wrong .anyway I'll make it short.
#1 I install 2.2 , setup animations , check synaptic , compiz , all is well and good.
#2 open ubuntu tweak and install desktop effects and ubuntu restricted extras (after enabling 3rd party app's).
#3 back to synaptic and compiz-plugins-extra is unmarked (was marked as installed at first) and copmpiz-fusion-plugins-extra is marked for upgrade ! , up to this point all is good , but when upgraded , animation add-ons is deleted from compiz manager paper plane and all !,i have watched it happen. If you open simple compiz manager, the box to active is there but won't highlight ,lay the pointer on it and a box says "no available plugins found". AARRRGGG ! I have tried un-install compiz and re-install everything, one at a time ,nothing works. still no add-on animations! I have even tried going into my 2.1 copying add-ons from compiz config. and installing it back into 2.2,it installs but no functionality ! iz it just me or what!--probably !
I just duno! anyway if someone in the know can help! Thanks
