Well then that makes 2 of us Thee. When I first came over to the *Nix world, I jumped straight into Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy. Somewhere on that site I also read it was coming final on the 20th. Then just before (or coulda even been the same day) I d/l'd Ultimate Edition, I saw that it didn't match the countdown on their Homepage. But I distinctly remember first seeing the 20th on there somewhere. Like you said tho'. Gives ya a little breathing room anyways.

I'm waiting because my Ultimate Edition hard drive went dead recently... don't have enough bandwith to download 1.7 and 1.8 so close together

I'm going to post these links here. I know there are quite a few of you out there that are interested in installing Ultimate Edition to a raid 0. I've seen a couple of how-to's on this and thought I would through it out there for you to check out if you haven't already.

This is a Ubuntu Fourm How-to for installing to a Feisty distro(Gusty should work just the same).

This is a Wiki How-To for installing to Gusty on Raid 0

Both use dmraid to get the job done. I have not used dmraid so can't verify that it works as well or any better than mdadm. Hope this helps somebody.

ps- I do have a "Quicklinks" section in the General Discussion section of this forum and will be placing these links there in my post as well. I encourage people to pitch-in on the effort.

Good idea DaddyX3

Here are a few more Raid Links

This How-to is very well written and explains everything in such detail that even a Newbie could use it.
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Gentoo_Install_on_Software_RAID
Yes, it's written for Gentoo but works well for Ultimate Edition & Ubuntu.

This How-to was written for Gutsy raid5 where even the boot partition is on the raid5
