Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.7

By the looks of it, you installed the Ubuntu 8.04 version of WUBI instead of utilizing the 1.7 ISO file. I'm not 100% sure about that - but that is what it looks like to me. :o You must have missed something in the instructions or maybe your not done with your adventure yet ;) Heres a quote from the WUBI page I linked you too:
What version of Ubuntu do I get with that?

Ubuntu 8.04 (which at this point is also a beta version).

Can I use an existing ISO/CD instead of letting Wubi download a new one?

Yes, physical CDs will be detected automatically, pre-downloaded ISOs should be placed in the same folder as wubi.exe. You can find the latest ISOs here

In general a overscan issue is when your refresh rate is set to high. I used to run mine at 1280x1024 @100hz .
Before that I used to run 1024x768 @120hz but if I tried to do that refresh at higher resolutions I got that same error in past.
But since I got a LCD widescreen I tend to stick with the native resolution and refresh rate of 1650x1080@ 60hz.

Since Im still trying to get back into *nix, off the top of my head I think you can define the refresh in the xorg? anyone with a clue care to correct me please do so.

Yes, you can adjust this in xorg.conf, but the Ultimate Edition is not installed to hard-disk yet, so I'm clueless on a resolve for this. Maybe an ability with editing something from the boot screen?

From Looking at your screen shots You have a copy of both versions on your system. You are clicking on the Wubi one to install, BUT you need to burn that ISO above it to a DVD then run it from the boot and you'll be in Ultimate. You have to burn that ISO to a disc first tho unless your using a emulator. Once you boot to it you can run it from the DVD and check it out before you install it.

Well, at this time I would say to go over to the WUBI forum and ask around for some tips. I know you can get an older version of it which will install Ubuntu Gusty and then maybe you can go from there to Ultimate Edition via This Method? However, I don't know if that will get you over to 1.7 from there though. I'll have to ask TheeMahn. Good Luck!

Sorry I reread tho whole post.. i see that you are running from a DVD. I also see in one of your first shots it shows your running it from the desktop. Have you actually booted to the DVD then tried it that way? not launch it from within another OS. If you ran it in your other Os just to take a screen shot then ignore this. Other wise boot up to the DVd then try installing from there.
