There are also some elements of 64Studio(sound) http://64studio.com/ that also could be used. Maybe the next Ultimate will include some sound production tools as well. We can only hope. pch

you can actually add all the ubuntu studio audio apps without any problemss. it will ad the rt kernal though as well. no changes to the repo are needed now that all the apps are actually in to ubuntu repos. ubuntu studio no longer uses a seperate repo.

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-audio ubuntustudio-audio-plugins

this installs a whole host of apps. from daw's (digital audio workstations) to synths, sequencers,effects & signal processing,midi. as well as jack.

a quick note tho. you will need to disabe the ultimate repo first or it wont go through. its and issue with dependancies between audacious & audacious plugins. after the install just renable the ultimate repo. update manager will tell you audacious can be updated. dont do this. instead go to synaptic. search for audacious and choose lock version. yes it wont update audacious any more but you wont have to worry about the annoying update notification when it cant update it anyway due to dependancies. this is the only way around it that i have found. cheers:-)

Thanks for the heads up. I was just about to do just that. I really like Jack(lots of new things to tinker with).
Hydrogen is an excellent drum machine. Even if you are not a musician its fun to play with(I am by the way).
I want to check out audacious as well. The great thing about Linux is there is an unlimited amount of applications to try out. It should keep me going for quite some time. pch

For me, this is my last step needed to get rid of my windows machine. I have Ultimate Edition running on three of my computers and would love to get my fourth switched as well.

Well I shouldn't say that is my last problem for the full conversion. I am still trying to get raid working, but that is not enough to keep me from switching my last machine. Any help on either issue would be great.

ive never used the app you speak of. i dont even think there is a "native" linux equivilent from what i can tell. however there are rumors of the windows version working through wine. check out the following 3 links.
